10.0.0.2 IP address Login- Telkom, D-Link Router Access

August 23, 2019 by Sidonia

What is the 10.0.0.2 IP address? Where is it used, and why?

The IP address 10.0.0.2 is used by several private business networks. Popular Router selling Brands, such as Edimax, Siemens, Micronet and several other brands use the 10.0.0.2 IP address as their default gateways. The primary reason for using this IP address inside a private network is for the ease of communication.

10.0.0.1 IP Address vs 10.0.0.2 IP Address

The answer to the above question can be understood in this way- “since a business network is very large in size, the routers that these business places use generally have the 10.0.0.1 IP address as their default gateway login, but all these routers are configured in such a manner that there is a subnet in them which supports a client IP address begining with 10.0.0.2”. This means that the default IP address 10.0.0.1 is subjected to the process of ‘subnetting’, where the created subnet has its IP address starting from 10.0.0.2 in order to provide flexibility to the business companies so that they can allocate a large number of IP addresses within their organisations.

To make you understand things in a better way, let me explain you the meaning of a subnet. An IP network can be subdivided into two or more than two networks, creating subnetworks. Whereas, the process of subdivision of the “Host Identifier” into sub parts is called subnetting.

Thus, this “main IP address” division process creates the required number of subnets, with each subnet using a different IP address altogether, to make the ‘IP address allocation’ process easier for these private business companies.

Which devices use the 10.0.0.2 IP address?

The 10.0.0.1 IP address is assigned to various devices such as :

  1. MODEMS
  2. ROUTERS
  3. IOT (INTERNET DEVICES) DEVICES SUCH AS :-

(a.)  SMART SPEAKERS (b.) RASPBERRY PI (c.) WEB CAMERAS

Uses of the 10.0.0.2 router login:-

There are a number of uses of the 10.0.0.2 router login. These are discussed as under :-

  1. IP QoS :- IP QoS stands for “Quality of service in IP networks”. It is designed to reduce the impact caused when the connection is under heavy load. Using IP QoS, a specific minimum or maximum bandwidth can be assigned for each computer, which means they will have lesser impact on each other.
  2. DNS and Proxy Settings:- DNS stands for “Domain Name System”. DNS is a system of conversion of alphabetic names into numeric IP addresses. The DNS system could be understood by this observation: When the web address (also known as URL) is typed in the address bar of an internet browser, the DNS servers return the IP address of the Web server associated with that name. For example: the domain name www.example.com will be translated to the IP address 198.105.232.4. Whereas; A Proxy server is a server that acts as an intermediary for requests from clients seeking resources from other servers.
  3. WPS:- WPS stands for “Wi-Fi Protected Setup”.  WPS is a network security standard which creates a secure wireless home network. It allows home users, who don’t know much about network security options to set up a Wi-Fi protected access, so that their Wi-Fi networks could be secured.
  4. MAC Address:- MAC Address stands for “media access control address”. MAC Address of a device is a unique identifier assigned to a “network interface controller”(NIC). For communications within a network segment, it is used as a network address.
  5. LAN, WAN and WLAN settings:- LAN, WAN and WLAN stands for “Local area network”, “wide area network” and “wireless local area network”. The 10.0.0.2 DNS can be used for setting the security settings in these area based networks.
  6. DHCP: DHCP stands for “Dynamic host configuration protocol”. A DHCP server assigns an IP address and other network configuration parameters to each device on a network so that they can communicate with other IP networks.
  7. PPPoE: PPPoE stands for “Point-to-Point over Ethernet”. PPPoE is a means of connecting DSL-modems to an Ethernet-only router.

10.0.0.1 Xfinity Comcast Router Login

August 13, 2019 by Sidonia

Do you know what a 10.0.0.1 is? If you are a tech geek with some background in Networking, you might know precisely what these numbers mean, but if you don’t have an idea, fret not, because this article will tell you exactly what it is. 10.0.0.1 is basically a default IP address that is used by several devices. The primary function it has is that it grants you access into the private configuration screens of many routers such as Micronet, Edimax, Siemens and more. While you need to know details such as your modem’s network settings page and login details to make any changes, knowing how to get there is the first step towards tinkering with your network settings. So here’s a look at everything you need to know about 10.0.0.1 and the Login procedure.

Why need 10.0.0.1 ?

The 10.0.0.1 IP address is a unique one because it can be used in more than one functionality. It is a part of the the 24-bit block of private IP addresses, which are typically used for creating local area networks (LANs). You cannot use the public internet to access private IP addresses but this in no way means that they have no value or function.

IP addresses such as 10.0.0.1 are responsible for maintaining the basic architecture of the internet we know and love and prevents it from collapsing. There are approximately over 4 billion IP addresses in the IPv4 communications protocol, and the first regional Internet Registry ran out of addresses way back in  April, 2011. Ever since, network administrators and internet providers have been remapping IP addresses onto others and utilising private IP addresses such as 10.0.0.1 as substitutes to sustain the demand for more addresses. With the advent of time, IPv4 will be replaced by the IPv6 but this will still take a little more time. As of now, 25% of all internet users rely on IPv6 to direct their traffic.

What is the Use of 10.0.0.1

Many manufacturers fall back on 10.0.0.0.1 as their default IP Address as it makes it easy to access their device’s configuration page. This is the easiest way to provide user’s with the required admin access to the device. From your modem’s configuration page you can change your settings easily.

10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.0.1 IP Address Features ?

This IP address directs you to your modem’s configuration page and local settings options from where you can configure and change the settings of your router as per your need or requirement. Given below are some areas or options you can change and configure using the admin panel.

  • MAC.
  • DHCP Client, DSL.

10.0.0.1 Admin Login – Simple guide

Xfinity users can use 10.0.0.1 to access their admin page and here’s a look at how you can do this.

  1. Connect your router to your device using a cable or wireless network.
  2. Turn both the device and your router on.
  3. Lanuch your preferred web browser.
  4. Enter ‘https://10.0.0.1/ ‘ + URL or IP address in the clipboard into the address bar and press enter.
  5. Find your router’s default username and password from the back of the device.
  6. Feed these credentials in and access the router settings.
  7. Make the changes you require as per your need.
  8. Click ‘Save’ once you are done to complete the process.

As the admin panel gifts you full access to your router, make sure you don’t share your credentials with strangers as they can then use it to make changes to your network system. Increase protection and security by changing your password.

If you don’t know what your default IP address is, then there’s something else than you can do. Type ipconfig and press enter in the command prompt window. A list containing several IP addresses will appear. Look for the one named Default Gateway under Ethernet Adapter as this is the IP address of your router.

Note: 10.0.0.0.1 is the wrong IP address as it was changed to  http://10.0.0.1. So, make sure you enter the updated IP address into your address bar.

Common problems you might face in 10.0.0.1 IP Access

Here’s a look at some unforeseen issues which you might have to deal with while trying to gain access into your admin panel.

Default Credentials

If you aren’t sure of what your login credentials are, then go for the default ones because eight out of ten times, this will help you gain access. For doing so, check the back side of your router as this will normally have details regarding your login details. Most router manufacturers would have attached a datasheet with relevant information from where you can pick out your login details.

Denial of Access

Another problem which you might face is denial of access. This can arise as a result of someone having changed the default password to something else which you either don’t know or don’t remember. In this case, you might have to go for restoring your router to factory settings. After resetting your router, you can then go forward and configure a new password as per your liking.

Resetting the Router

To reset the router, look for the reset button on the device itself. In most routers, this button will be beside the power connector but its location may vary according to the type and model of the router. Once you find the reset button, press and hold it for a while, till the LED on the router blinks indicating that reset has been initiated. Doing so will result in the router being reset. After that, you can use the default credentials to gain access to the admin panel and from there, you can go ahead to change the password to something you remember.

10.0.0.1 Default Router Login and Password

Each router manufacturer uses a different default username and password combination. While listing out everything wouldn’t be possible, here are a few of the most commonly used login combinations that you could try out, in case you forgot what your login credentials are.

  • admin/admin
  • admin/password
  • admin/[none]
  • [none]/admin
  • [none]/[none]
  • administrator/password
  • administrator/[none]
  • recovery/recovery
  • root/root
  • root/[none]

10.0.0.1 IP Login Connection Issues

In most cases, there are three main reasons why people have trouble connecting to 10.0.0.1:

  • No direct connection: For security reasons, most routers can use the 10.0.0.1 IP address only from a computer they are connected to via an Ethernet cable. While some routers may provide access over a wireless connection, several of them don’t. The best way to solve your connectivity issues would hence, be to buy an Ethernet cable and connect your device to your router directly. Most desktop computers come equipped with an Ethernet port and so the only thing you would require is the cable. If you use a laptop, go for a USB adapter to do the same.
  • Wrong IP address: Sometimes, even experienced network administrators type in 10.0.0.0.1 instead of 10.0.0.1.  Remember that all IPv4 IP addresses contain four numbers and not five. Incase you changed your IP address and don’t remember the new one, then reset your router and access it from the default address to make further changes.
  • Wrong Credentials: Routers are protected by a password to increase security and prevent strangers from accessing your admin panel. More often than not, we forget what are credentials are. But this shouldn’t cause much of a problem because more times than not, the credentials are the default ones which can be found out easily. If not, you can always reset your router and then access your admin panel.
